Soul
Soul is unique to each individual and also the magic within a particular place. Wines capture and combine quintessential aspects of Soul such as the passion, wisdom and creativity of the people who live in a unique Terroir and make of this product a true piece of craftsmanship, an expression of their distinctive Culture and Land.
Philosophy
Wine is not simply an enjoyable drink; it’s a daily pleasure. As such, its appreciation should not be isolated, but rather integrated into a wide array of sensations: places, sharing with loved ones, reminiscences of times gone by, heart-warming food, your own lifestyle or the music you love.
At Canepa, each year we aim to release distinctive wines that pair with YOU. Wines that express their origin in the unique combination of local winegrowing history and our own Italian family heritage, which channels our passion and creativity and turns it into a tradition to innovate.
Roots
The history of Viña Canepa goes back to 1930, when a young Giuseppe Canepa Vacarreza, from Genoa, Italy, established in the port of Valparaíso, the first Canepa cellar and bottling plant. He had found in Chile the terroir which would give birth to a winery that has marked the countries wine history.
The year 1979 marks a most out-standing milestone for Canepa, when Finisimo was recognized as the fifth best wine of the world in the Wine Olympics, organized by the prestigious French Gault & Millau Magazine, being surpassed only by the most exclusive French wines.
In the 1980s, an innovative Viña Canepa, introduced in Chile the first stainless steel tanks in Chike, which allows to produce wines with a new style; more young and fresh.
2007 represents a new key year in the history of Canepa. This year the winery signed an strategic alliance with The Concha y Toro Group, which strengthens its image and improves its worldwide distribution.
Currently, our winemaking focus is oriented in a 100% to the quality of our wines and the diversity of origins.
